Sing along with me... (think War, the song)
Winter... Huh... Yeah!
What is it good for?
This week's question...
"What's the difference between your Classifieds and your Free4Sale program?" - Bill from Sisseton.
This is a great question and was meaning to talk about this subject anyway. We have some changes that we are putting in place for 2014. In our world where everything seems to be costing more and more, we have been able to simplify and lower the cost of our classifieds. Our regular 25 word or less classified ads are now ONLY $2.75 per week. Check out the coverage map on "Where does Tidbits go?" link to see what kind of territory that puts your ad in. The price is good for anyone, private party or commercial businesses, and is good for any number of weeks you wish your ad to run. We will also create a special category for your particular item or service if necessary. You can now order online with credit card or order online and mail your payment. You can also use the ad blank provided in the paper or try to catch us on the on the phone and we can help you.
OK, so what is "Free4Sale"?... for most folks $2.75 per week is not a budget-breaker... but, some of our local neighbors are on fixed budgets, have low paying jobs or are just down on their luck. For those folks, Tidbits wants to be here to help out. We still want to get your For Sale item in our paper and we are willing to give you Four Weeks Free... because if we are not here to help our friends and neighbors, what are we here for?
So, whether you use our low cost Classifieds or you need to use our Free4Sale program, we want your item in Tidbits... oh, yeah, our Classifieds and Free4Sale ads are listed on our website (www.LakeAreaTidbits.com) - and that's included in the price!
NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION UPDATE...
I sure hope all the 2014 "Resolvers" are sticking to their resolutions... I am proud to say that I am. So far so good on my "get healthy" kick. I have been doing 22:30 on one of those step machines with the counter at least once a day. Tell you what though, I was about 3 minutes in the first time and really started wondering what the heck am I doing?, but I hit my goal, and it gets a little easier each time. Why 22 minutes and 30 seconds? It is because I have Netflix and most 1/2 hour shows without those pesky commercials are only about 20 minutes or so long, and that fits... one episode, one workout. So far I have dropped 5 pounds and feel 10 times better... plus I am getting caught up all the happenings in Mayberry.
I have also made a conscious effort to eat healthier. I was recently in one of our local thrift stores and purchased a small pressure cooker... one that can do 4 pints at a time. I really bought it for canning, but then on the handle it listed different foods and times to cook them, so I began experimenting. Wow, I don't know why I didn't discover this earlier in my life. My first experiment was pork chops, with potatoes and carrots, all in the same pot. I seared the chops first in EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) with some seasonings and cut the carrots in to large chunks and quartered the potatoes. Delicious is the only thing I could say. Next I did chicken quarters and following that I did BBQ chicken legs with hot sauce I made (from our own garden) mixed in for some spicy zing.
Next up is BBQ ribs... I think I can almost taste them already!
Thank you for picking up this issue of Tidbits! Please let our valued businesses that help us bring Tidbits to you, know that you appreciate them having Tidbits in their establishment. It means a lot to them to hear that.
Stay safe out there, see you all next week!
